MBT Winter Music Videos

CONCEPT
This year’s 2026 video concept promises international appeal, bringing unprecedented publicity to Millersville and its programs. Our story follows an ailing German grandfather and an ancient folktale, Das Nacht Volk (“the Night Folk”). After hearing strange music, the grandfather warns his two grandchildren not to succumb to the Night Folk. However, the children are enticed and eager to learn how to play this mysterious music. Later, the grandfather hears the sound of a bowed instrument and encounters a haunting procession. He catches sight of Death playing a violin, leading a long line of folk through the timeless streets of Old Marburg, Germany.
OUR 2024 PRODUCTION
2024’s production laid the creative foundation for this year’s project, and remains one of our most ambitious undertakings to date. Millersville's 2024 music video production delivered an internationally inspired story rooted in Icelandic folklore, bringing new visibility and excitement to the university and its programs. The film was based on the legend of the Yule Cat (Jólakötturinn), a mythical creature said to roam on Christmas Eve, punishing those who did not receive new clothes by devouring the food in their home and taking children away. Originating in Iceland’s clothing-making society, the legend symbolized hard work and generosity, as children were encouraged to earn new clothing and share their old garments with those in need.
The extended music video/short film was filmed entirely on location in Iceland prior to the Iceland Airwaves Festival, capturing breathtaking landscapes including towering waterfalls, black sand beaches, rustic countryside homes, and dramatic terrain. Featuring Icelandic actors portraying a family from the 1860s, the production also brought myth to life through legendary figures such as Freya, the goddess of love and magic, and the terrifying Yule Cat itself.
